The novel titled "Der Graf von Monte Christo" (The Count of Monte Cristo) was written by French author Alexandre Dumas and published in 1844. The story is a tale of revenge and is set in the early 19th century.

The protagonist of the story, Edmond Dantès, is a young man who works as a sailor for the shipping company owned by his employer, Mr. Morrell. After escaping from prison with the help of the priest, Edmond travels to Monte Cristo, where he discovers the treasure and uses it to seek revenge on those who wronged him. He disguises himself as the Count of Monte Cristo and manipulates the lives of his enemies to make them suffer as he once did.

The novel explores themes such as justice, vengeance, deception, and forgiveness.
It has been adapted into numerous films, TV shows, and plays, making it one of the most famous works of literature in the world.
